Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located in the area of Gamaodengzou to the north of the Mohai region and to the south of the Ziqu region, Zaduo County, Qinghai Province. It was named by the 2nd Regional Geological Reconnaissance Party in 1982-1983.


Lithology and Thickness

Volcanics and Clastics. Composed of grey-purple basalt, volcanic breccia, coarse- and medium-grained lithoclastic sandstone, feldspar-rich sandstone, siltstone and bio-limestone, with a thickness of over 1436 m.

Yields Fusulinid fossils such as Yabeina, Neoschwagerina, Verbeekina, Yangchienia, Schwagerina and Nankinella; Ammonoids such as Altudoceras, Agathiceras; and Brachiopods such as Urushtenia, Spiriferellina, Neoplicatifera, Waagenochocha, Acosarina, Orthotichia.
